at the end of interviews when the interviewer asks what questions you have for them, is it ok to not have questions?
I usually ask about the challenges that the new joiner will face starting in the team. Or also, about the style of management.
In my experience, it depends on the number of interviews you have. If you have typical 4-6 interviews -- you should ask each interviewer some questions. For example, if you had interviews with 2 quants, 1 engineer and 1 manager you could ask a couple of quanty questions, something about their systems and, finally, some business-oriented question. But I once had 18 rounds of onsites. I was done with questions after the first 13 people. And also I asked many questions to their CEO, which was the last round. Sorry to everyone from 14 to 17. You got the idea.
You can ask each interviewer what they are working on and what were some of the interesting challenges they faced to each interviewer if you don’t have any other questions. I mean not the same exact question to everyone, but similar questions related to their day to day work
You should always have questions. A interview is a two way street. Reality is you’ll spend more with your co workers than with anyone else. How do you not have questions for them?
