Do product designers or engineers make less at startups vs more established companies? Barring stock of course. Currently at a fairly well funded startup in Boston and feeling under-compensated. TC 160k + stock options - YOE 13 - Currently Product Design Lead/Director
Usually one makes less at a startup. They don’t have the cash or profitability for big bases and bonuses. Likewise, options are less valuable than stock.
That looks under compensated for that YoE, should be 180+ base if not 200 how much is the stock
Stock is currently worth about $2-4k (currently seed funded to the tune of ~9m), could one day be worth several million with our foolish ambitious goals :)
I was thinking 180-195 was more appropriate as well thanks for hopefully helping confirm that
