how many shares did you buy and what is it now worth? how much are you in the hole? did you have to pay significant taxes to exercise paper that is now worth less than soiled toilet paper? did you “invest” your kids college fund in hopes of striking rich but now you are left with nothing?
I lol'd
Looks like hpbf22 got rejected by wework in the past 🤣
I don’t understand this concern about WeWork employees shares and supposedly lost value. There was never a value, they bought a lottery ticket and didn’t win. All the value was created by Neumann. As much as you hate him now, he singlehandedly created $47billions out of thin air. Yes there were people hired, they showed up to work, but they didn’t create any value. They were there to give an impression that this was a tech company with tech multiples. There no sympathy to them from me. Gamblers and pretenders True hero is Neumann. Genius. It worked for him. A dude made a billion out of nothing
Uhhhh it was always a house of cards. Pulling a con on Softbank isn’t creating value, rather just redistributing it away from the Saudi’s.
If there was no value then what are thousands of employees doing there? What are tens of thousands people who lease WeWork space are doing? The guy had a vision, he created entire work life style out of nothing. That’s admirable
What matters is that most wework employees were paid at or above average and knew there are risks to working at a startup. So I am sure they are just fine.
Yeah, but this is mostly for those of us in tech. A lot of us knew there was a risk, but this is definitely unprecedented.
The problem is they may have left money on the table elsewhere to join WeWee. For eg I know someone who left Oracle to join WW. They likely got 2X the unvested stocks they had at Oracle which now just went poof. Not even sure if they can negotiate that same amount of stock from another company if they tried to jump ship now. Perhaps they can if they hide their WW employment info and say something like "I was on a break?".
This video is saying SoftBank are buy at $19/share. Did any employees get to sell at that price? https://youtu.be/E5StOjcKp1o
Hell no, nobody fucking exercised. Why would you exercise when you can’t sell, unless your strike is incredibly low? What’re you, new? I took the job for the excellent base pay. Not for the stock.
Same
All newbies here. Folks only preferred share holders will get their money back.
What an a$$hole
