Hi, would like to know what difference did higher TC make in your life, e.g. how has life changed for you (gradually or substantially) between TCs like jumping from 100k to 140k or 150k to 300k. What was the most remarkable aspect of your life that changed when you got the higher TC?
Getting close to early retirement
70k (SoCal, not LA or SD) -> renting a room, not saving much, no gf. The rest are Bay Area: 100k -> living with gf in a crappy, small apartment, barely saving anything. Kinda not much difference, except I had a gf. 140k -> living on my own in a decent apartment (broke up with gf lol), saving an ok amount 200k -> living on my own in a slightly better apartment, saving a decent amount, far less money stress. Edit: Added one more level of TC, locations.
82k - small but decent apartment with my wife 230k - bigger but still 1 bedroom apartment in a really nice, luxurious building. Lifestyle doesn't really change other than that. Mostly done so that my wife can feel safer and not live in a shitty area. The other difference is that money isn't something I really think about anymore when it comes to spending. I spend whatever I want to spend. I'm more concerned with investments and building that money now. Can save plenty each month to be happy and stress-free without trying hard.
More savings. More peace of mind
True, especially at amazon when more TC after a point only comes as more shares as base salary tops at 160k (180 something if you are in Bay Area)
But what about QOL improvements?
