I am writing to seek your valuable guidance and assistance regarding a critical matter related to the SEVP (Student and Exchange Visitor Program) Portal Employment Update. Unfortunately, there has been a situation where a member of our community missed the 10-day deadline to complete the required SEVP Portal Employment Update. We understand that adhering to the deadline is of utmost importance, and we want to address this issue promptly to ensure compliance with SEVP regulations. In light of this, I kindly request your guidance on the appropriate action to take in such cases. Specifically, we would appreciate your expertise in answering the following questions: - What should be the immediate steps taken by the affected individual to rectify the missed deadline for the SEVP Portal Employment Update? - Are there any consequences for missing the deadline, and if so, what are they? What impact could this have on the individual's immigration status? - Is there a possibility to rectify the situation and ensure compliance even after the 10-day deadline has passed? If yes, what are the recommended steps to mitigate any potential negative consequences? #opt#f1#student
lol no need to talk to a lawyer about this. Email your DSO immediately and ask him/her to update your employment for you. Usually not a problem if it’s one day over but you don’t want to push it
Yes, actually it’s just one day over and already emailed them but since it’s a weekend, worried that the DSO will reply back until Tuesday since they too need 2 days to process the request
It’s fine. We’ve never seen students’ status get affected by missing the deadline by a few days. But this doesn’t apply to all cases. USCIS has little resources to investigate and decide on every student who missed the deadline. Just try to get the DSO to do it as soon as possible and move on.
