One of my acquaintances joined IBM as staff with TC ~40 LPA having ~6 yoe. I used to think IBM pays in similar band of TCS, Infy, Wipro etc as IBM pays fresher around 3.5 LPA. I fail to understand why there is so much wide gap between fresher and experienced engineers salary. Please help me understand, if IBM has different divisions (verticals) paying high salaries. TC 1.8 cr, yeo 9.
Hey man, I'm not able to understand ur TC, By ur experience u should be L5 but that TC looks like for L6...can u pls explain? Thanks!!
I’m L6. Promoted last yr only.
Your TC my Gosh... Please tell me your skillset that got you this much salary
I think it’s function of company more than a skill. Of course, you have to good on both technical and business aspect. In context of google landing business impact trumps over raw skill. Working knowledge of system design, distributed system and decent coding skill should be good enough to perform day today tasks.
IBM product divisions like IBM ISDL and ISL can match TC of top product companies. For Band 7A(a level below staff engineer), they can pay upto 35 LPA. For Staff, 40 LPA is a lowball.
Yes, staff should be around 65
Very few subset of people do get paid such a salary based on what we call PMR.
Well IBM has a product (India R&D) and a service wing which is called IBM GBS. I am not so sure either whether R&D pays so much or not but for niche skills ballpark might be possible
Makes sense.
