I got my first job out of college at my company. I started in June 2018. This March I received the news that I will be getting 0% pay increase for the year. The reason was that 3 months on the job was for training and I was not contributing. Was just wondering if this is common for new grads in their first year? Any other companies do this? I know now that SAP does this :) if this is not a norm in tech companies then all I can say that anyone looking to join this company BEWARE!
Pay raises aren’t guaranteed; that said that excuse is bullshit 6 mos of contribution is plenty of time to determine if some adjustment to pay is necessary
Jump ship to get a pay raise ;)
That sounds like a BS excuse. Not even adjusting for inflation? It's not like you joined in the winter, you joined early summer!
Exactly. I was not hoping for a 5% raise but at least about 2% just accounting for inflation
It’s a function of being at SAP. Vote with your feet.

No contribution, no pay raise. That’s how it works.
Fair statement. No pay raise for 4-5 months of contribution and adjusting for inflation also?
If they're already paying you well now, you might not yet be earning that pay. I was in the same situation in my second year.
I wish :) I am not that smart though. The furthest I reached was the last round of interview with one of the 5. I have been brushing up my coding skills though, just a bit worried that I am losing touch with coding in my current role
What do you want a raise for, you’re brand new and have not contributed.
^This. Entitled new grad
Was waiting for this condescending answer from at least one person :) For one, I did contribute for almost 5 months and secondly I wanted to know if this is common (reason I asked question). I am not throwing a tantrum for not getting a raise, but oh well, I hope you feel good about yourself and do pat yourself on the back because I am sure you put your blood and sweat in for your pay unlike us entitled grads :)
