Why?
A Facebook employee that prefers an echo chamber and avoids reading news articles they don’t agree with. Sounds about right
Animals especially viscous dogs are not meant to be confined and chained down and enslaved as a house pet
I would feel offended if any of my neighbors got a pit bull and would assume it would eventually attack me.
I hope more people were like you. You're not asking your neighbors to not get a dog but you're setting expectations that if their dog trespasses or misbehaves, you'll take matters into your own hands. If more people did this, maybe dog owners would be more responsible due to the constant vigilence by their neighbors. I'm really tired of stupid people and their off leash dogs or their unsupervised "yard dogs". Pitbull or not, I don't want to be bit by somebody else's pet.
I started carrying a knife all the time when my neighbor (apartment) got an aggressive dog. I’m a dog person. I love dogs. That thing is a wild animal. It goes from zero to lunging to kill in an instant. I hope he gets rid of it soon.
There’s pieces of shit that bring vicious dogs to the playground and sit on benches with them right in the middle around all the kids while looking at their phones.
Yes I’ve seen this in Bay Area
Really sad. No hate against pit bulls but bringing one home needs to be thought through and people need to be absolutely careful about the environment you raise it in. Most people try to be edgy or “feel bad” at the pound and bring home a pit bull. Then don’t give two hoots about the correct care and proper upbringing. Then shit like this happens. Statistically speaking, pit bulls are riskier than other dogs. Hence anyone bringing them home to raise need to provide the correct environment. Honestly, even then there could be challenges and incidents. Just a very risky ordeal.
They’re killers. I have a family member with one. It appears sweet but I know it would turn the second it thought it was in a position of power: smaller dogs, children, etc. I don’t let my kids go to this family member’s house.
Wasn't her dog
I don’t understand the attraction to pitbulls. It seems like either people that want to be tough or people that feel like they have to protect the down trodden? Why not just get a breed that doesn’t come with all the baggage? When I see a pit I cross the street, not worth the risk.
A lot of negative bias towards pit bulls here… its not the dog its the training that causes them to do this. If someone gets a pitbull from a known fighting ring then yes they must be super careful with that dog. However the majority of pitbulls ive met are just like any other dog and are super loving and affectionate
Do you think people should own bears, tigers, etc as pets? Probably not. Some animals are just more inherently dangerous than others. Pitbulls are one of them but it’s usually not the idiot owners getting killed by them - it’s children and elderly.
Comparing a pitbull to a bear or tiger just shows the level of ignorance in this post
I’ve only ever seen pit bulls attack. I saw one get off its leash and bring a kid down off his bike. I saw one on leash nearly kill another dog that went by it.
I have exclusively seen pitbull attacks as well. Not a pretty sight

>this is becoming more common Any proof or just your feelings presented as a fact?
https://www.nationalpitbullvictimawareness.org/ There is an entire website dedicated to the AR-15 of dogs.
That’s cool. This is a breakdown of number of attacks by year and month, directly from the database on that site. Frequency is trending down, not up. Obviously population trends and number of pit bull owners would need to be considered for a proper analysis, but bottom line is “this is becoming more common” is just OPs feelings and they don’t match reality.
