Hi Everyone, Was looking for advice on how to maximize TC for next jump. About me: -2 years of high finance post-undergrad (IB) -2 years in revenue finance & cloud cost analysis at big name tech company (some python and sql but little, I was kind of like a data analyst) -took a year off -coding bootcamp -6 months as a front end engineer right now (not at REI, this is my fun PT job) I understand the market isnโt so hot right now but Iโm looking at interviewing 1 year from now (or whenever market picks up again) I come from a finance major so I can pixel push but not good at DS&A. Whatโs the next step for me if I want to maximize my next TC jump and fatFIRE? What are your thoughts: Plan = leetcode and learn DSA + systems design (thinking of full-stack so i donโt have to do FE take homes), then when industry picks up, interview for FAANG + Big Name (1 year away). Iโm currently working with React + GraphQL for my stack. Can I gun for l5 at Amazon with 1.5-2 YOE (4 YOE if I count my โtechโ experience at the Big Name company) or l4/e4 at other places? How would one maximize TC next jump in my situation? Thanks! ๐๐ป #engineering #software #swe
Yes this is a good plan. LC + DSA + good LP stories. You probably wonโt be able to FatFire unless you maybe work remote from LCOL/MCOL area or are staff/principal at next job or do very well investing. 2 most likely is not possible but doing 1 and 3 is. You could also get extremely lucky and join a start up as an early member. Then pray it gets acquired or IPO and easy FIRE
Depends on how you position. I was able to get fintech EM with the right story
