Google is obviously a better brand that is why am suggesting move later . At sde 1 get uber TC which is more and then go to Google get sde 2 TC there which is more than uber. It will achieve both maximize TC and brand name

Honestly speaking, you can't go wrong with either of the companies. Both are top tech companies and have similar brand value in tech market when you are jumping ships. But if I were you, I would choose Google because it's a status symbol in India. People worship you and society looks upto you.

“Is Google brand worth pay cut?” Dude that’s barely a couple lakhs difference which won’t even matter beyond 1 year since the stocks will probably be in very different places then. Focus on learning and growing at the job instead of micro-optimising on TC.
I wouldn't not argue with that but it seems google is cutting corners this is for 33% vesting, further down it will be even lower. And they have even reduced refreshers by 20-30%. You can't frontload stocks and also reduce refreshers.

I actually had the same dilemma a year ago but for L4. My first year TC at Google was 62 while it was 70 at Uber. Both for L4 roles. I joined Uber because the team was a high profile platform team owned completely by India, delivered a great impact and got promoted internally this time. After getting the appraisal comp numbers today, I'm at 1.04 Cr now (within a year) 5 YoE. And all of this at the current stock price (30% drop over the year). Bottomline: Find a place where you see a gap that you can fill. Be it Uber or Google. Both brands are great. IMO It's harder to get into Uber than Google now a days (for L3). Our stock is available at a discount as well which means TC is only going to go higher
Harder part I don't agree as I have given interview at both got direct LC questions from uber whereas Google questions were more twisted. But it is true that opportunity is team specific and not company specific. Decision should be based on team instead
I meant for L3 roles. It's a moving target but the bar has dropped significantly for Google L3. Look it up online
