Can a company be un-IBMified

Google is IBM-ifying. Less perks, less pay, less fun, more bureaucracy and performance review, etc. My cope is that we’ll go back to party time when the economy is good again. But, don’t think a company has every un-IBMified after beginning the descent. Has it ever happened? Is it a one way street?

The founders put Stan in the courtyard as a reminder. Maybe go pay him a visit.

IMO, original founders of their companies carried the ethos or soul of the company. Like Larry & Sergey, Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, etc. If they are lucky and found a successor that carries on the original spirits, the company continues to thrive. But, sometimes the successor is mediocre, like an MBA type executive, the company will lose its soul and become IBMized.

LoL Google is becoming Ibm due to hiring Microsoft execs and leadership from Microsoft that dont care about culture and people. Look what they did with compensation saying everyones MRP was too high. Google is headed in the wrong direction.

The only real world example of success is Satya Nadella. A visionary CEO who cuts the stack ranking, and removed political SVPs and VPs.
