Indian h1 why ssn

Hey guys !! I am indian currently got my h1 and paying ssn Medicare tax. My company hasn't started my I 140 yet even then my priority date will be 2025 or 2026. By the time I get GC I would die. Why should I pay the tax ?? For the benefits which I will be eligible for?? Will I get this benefits even if I move back to India??

You’ll get this benefit after you’ve contributed for certain duration. Irrespective, it’s the law of the country anyone who work here as resident must pay all these taxes whether you use the benefit or not

You would get social security benefits if you contribute for 40 quarters total. Wouldn't benefit from Medicare though.

this. Atleast be grateful that USA stands out here. Which other country in the world offers pay back on taxes to non-citizens non-residents.

It definitely is commendable, but do keep in mind it's a member contributed plan, not tax payer funded. A few others that I'm familiar with are Australia, Canada, Denmark, Finland, Sweden, New Zealand with similar member contributed plans where you get benefits irrespective of citizenship, residency if you have put money into the system.

You get social security after 10 years of contributions regardless of where you reside or your citizenship. The social security program will probably run out of money by the time though unless they do something about it

If you apply for perm now, wouldn't you get GC in 10-12 years? I thought that was the eb2, eb3 wait time.

More like 100 years given the population. It moves forward one month each year.

I remember checking a website recently (unable to find it now) which showed the approximate wait time for Indians on eb2/3, to be under 14 years. 🥲

You should pay the tax because you work for an employer, just like everybody else that works for an employer.
