Am I being paranoid? Or is it worth keeping one handy. It covers the torso and back of the head. https://wonderhoodie.com/products/kids-bullet-proof-hoodie?variant=13837983383607 Parent of two school going kids in texas. HTC ~650K
Is this what we've come to... smh
Yes, Aishwarya Thatikonda is my relative. https://www.fox4news.com/news/allen-outlets-shooting-victim-aishwarya-thatikonda-came-to-the-u-s-to-live-her-dream Now its really happened in family and I cannot have it with my kids.
@Aviatrix - sorry to hear. Condolences.
Stop being ridiculous
Would this do anything though?
Thats my question too. If god forbid there is one more school shooting, I will start sending my kids with visible bullet proof jackets and a helmet in protest. I am talking to people in community to send their kids like this to protest the lax gun laws.
It might be worth the effort to understand the gun laws before protesting them. What is lax about them currently that you don’t like?
You've been watching too much John Wick
you probably dont have kids or dont care for your life. ask the family who lost their child in one of these mass shootings.
5 lbs of hoodie for a kid to lug along. Kid will probably pass out from heat exhaustion. Also, it's not fool proof because even if the vital organs are SOMEWHAT protected, arterial bleeding from extremities can quickly result in the worst outcome during an incident
They will not be wearing this
Check this too : https://bulletproofeveryone.com
Should we have an armed Security at school's entrances? Most of the schools in India has one.
1. your kids will never wear this in TEXAS more than half the year 2. your kids are much more likely to die from a car than a bullet, no matter how bad your neighborhood is 3. I doubt the effectiveness of this
It’s a cute idea, but realistically, that material won’t stop a 9mm or a 5.56, which are the two most common calibers. It’s important to note that the product “meets NJI IIIA standards” but doesn’t say that it’s actually certified. There’s a big difference there. However! A lot of this comes down to what’s going to make you feel safer mentally. And if this helps with that, then go for it. Especially if it’s for your kids. Make sure you get one without the logo though.
No fabric bulletproof material will stop a 5.56 (AR-15). You need the big heavy ceramic plates for that. Without a certification I wouldn’t trust it against a handgun either, but that’s within the realm of possibility.
