If you’re buying a house, would you prefer that it has a gas stove or an electric (induction) stove?
If you’re Asian, you’re more likely to choose gas stoves because it’s easier to stir fry stuff like Yakimeshi (焼飯). If you live in a condominium, you’ll probably choose electric stoves because it is relatively cheaper and safer, especially if you don’t own the place. Otherwise, it probably doesn’t matter to you.
哎呀 Nephew just say fried rice
Gas stoves are better for cooking, because you can immediately adjust the temperature. But they are more dangerous overall because of potential gas leaks.
Electric are statistically more dangerous by a considerable amount.
I think the statistics are 2.5x more electric stove fires than gas
Glass top electric, fuck anything else.
Electric is more efficient. There’s a staggering statistic about how much gas is wasted/escapes. However, definitely prefer cooking on gas
Gas stoves suck. More dangerous (fire risk, gas explosion risk, and air pollution), less eco-friendly, slower than induction.
Gas stoves are not more dangerous. Statistically 2.5x more fires happen with electric than gas.
Of course they're more dangerous. There's a risk of gas leaks from bad piping, a risk of failed ignition, open flames (which are dangerous on their own and even more dangerous when cooking with flammable materiel), and air pollutants. Don't confuse correlation and causation.
Why not both? I have seen kitchens with both.
If you’re going to have a really big working vent and you enjoy cooking, gas can give you lots of flexibility in terms of what sort of things you can do. If you’re not a big cooking foodie type, induction is fine and then you don’t have to worry about ventilation as much. Gas leaking is a legit concern. I used to cook professionally so I’m biased for a gas range, but I’m doing induction next house/remodel.
Dual fuel: gas cooktop, electric (convection) oven.
Washington state is considering ban on natural gas for new residential and commercial properties.
There are two types of electric… typically when you say electric you are referring to coils, which are terrible. Induction is the other, which essentially works with magnetic fields.
Three types: 1. Standalone coils, the kind you can literally pull out. These are super cheap and shitty. 2. Non-induction glass stovetops. 3. Induction stovetops.
Op specified induction is what they're going for, which I definitely recommend
