YOE: 12 TC: $0 I’ve just hit my 14th final round rejection this year. 5 of them have happened in the past month. In my last 5 interviews each company has asked me to do massive project that take anywhere from 10-40 hours and require me to do: 1. Product proposal 2. Product research 3. Competitor analysis 3. Designs / mock-ups 5. Roadmap planning 6. Resource allocation based on their actual teams 7. Do an hour long presentation on my product. Someone please hire me, I will gladly send you all of these projects and you can review for yourself
Discover financial services is hiring program manager, you might want to give a try there
I’ll take a look, Ty!
Good idea to look at program management as an adjacent path
You are lucky enough to get so many interviews. I have been applying since Feb and so far only got 6 interviews and 0 offers. (in canada).
Idk if lucky is the right word lol I would say pretty darn unlucky to have 14 final round rejections….
Indian?
No, a white male…the literal worst thing in the fucking world to get hired as in 2023
racial discrimination! but people will doubt it since you're white
Hang in there. Market is tough. Did you try freelance websites like Upwork?
No but I can’t imagine they pay anything…like there is no way anyone on up work is paying more than unemployment
That’s true. Rather take unemployment and apply full time for now
Yea the product case questions are a lot of effort… pretty annoying. Just remember it only takes 1. Keep up the level of effort.
12 yrs of PM experience?
Yes
What kind of companies have you applied at?
He applied to over 1,000 jobs. Probably all types of companies
Where does it say he applied to 1000 jobs?
Sorry bro that sucks. Have you tried any product coaches? I keep getting emails from a couple of them that keep saying their people are getting offers all the time and the market is turning around. Hang in there
Hey do you know of Product coaches you would recommend? Or do you mean generically choosing from exponent or prepfully
OP, I’m very sorry. I’m in the same boat as you. 9+ on-site interviews (23 first round interviews) and rejected from all. I’m also in product management but have had 1 TPM interview too
You must be doing something well to land 10+ onsite
I checked again. It was 9 on-site not 10. But I e attended at least 23 first round interviews and more HR phone screens than that at this point since April. It’s a tough market
Hi friend, market is tough. Hang in there. Also a lot of companies are getting free work done through take-homes, deny them if you don't see a good fit, they're likely not hiring anyone in the first place
I will literally do any job just need someone to hire me don’t care if it’s 50 grand a year. I can’t survive without a job anymore. The free work trend is really disgusting, exploitative and I’m sure tons of people’s on visas are forced to do them as well.
Have you tried remote or consulting in the meantime?
