I was just having a convo with some friends about taking a trip soon and none of them wanted to book through Airbnb but rather hotels. I feel like I’ve been seeing more of this. Curious to see people who work there what do u think the future outlook of airbnb will look like? Is it still a popular choice for people like before or have you seen a decline in users? Just curious #airbnb
Technically for hotels, all the fees are hidden into a single fee. If you don't like seeing cleaning fees on Airbnb, change the search filter to display full price.
People also search on Airbnb and book directly with the host outside of Airbnb. Unethical but its 20% cheaper!
airbnb is still a better choice for a big family
Totally agree, went on a family trip 2 years ago in Mexico and our Airbnb was sickkk. But would never book if it’s just me and someone else
There's just a lack of consistency with AirBnB. If you had a consistent way of checking in, a consistent level of quality and a consistent way to contact someone when you need assistance then it might be OK. My last interaction with them was a chargeback and I won't use them again without substantial changes.
There’s also a lack of consistency with hotels - some of the same brand names suck and some are great, that’s life.
For example, hotels have a reasonable expectation of how you check in and get into your room. "Tee hee, I forgot to send the code" happened more than once with AirBnB. Absolute garbage.
Might be beneficial if you’re a staying as group of families or large families. You can even negotiate the rates.
I still find myself gravitating towards airbnb. Airbnb often gets me in areas where there aren’t many hotels, or hotels are either super nice or opposite. I also like that airbnbs have full kitchens and multiple bedrooms/bathrooms. I also like coming back to an airbnb and not a big hotel. A lot of people are also using their experiences.
Hotel and resorts is my first choice . Airbnb is great when traveling with families. We are a family of 4 and when my parents travel with us we take Airbnb and they are more comfortable that way.
In unit Washer / Dryer! Hotels can have kitchen but it’s really rare to have washer dryer. It’s usually the main reason for me to book Airbnb for a longer trip. We can’t stay in Ritz Carlton every time.
I know it's not right place. But, Can I DM you for referrals?
I think Airbnb as a whole is doing well and will continue to do well. It's a much different use case than hotels and the segment is only getting bigger. Sooner or later, we'll add more hotels. The biggest issue is quality consistency, as others have mentioned. Once we solve that problem (and we're making headway), I think we're good to go. I know people like to complain about cleaning fees and it's a meme, but I think the complaints are just ridiculous. First, people who complain about big cleaning fees are probably searching for them to post on social media. Most places have reasonable fees or are doing away with them altogether. Second, people complaining about cleaning fees don't realize that hotels have cleaning fees too. Except that they're baked into the price so you don't see them. I think actually showing the cleaning fees is hurting our rep because it's really no different than hotels. We're just being more transparent. We do need to do a better job as a whole on setting expectations with hosts and guests about what state of the house guests are expected to leave it in and what a cleaning fee covers. All in all, I think we have some stuff to work on around the edges, but the core business is solid and something that hotels won't be able to replicate because it doesn't scale well. Use Airbnbs when you want a bigger place with real kitchens or you're on a longer trip. Use hotels if you're single or a couple on a shorter trip.
I know it's not right place. But, Can I DM you for referrals?

Why Modi not asking for votes based on work?
Why would I book with airbnb when they make you do all the work and then charge you a cleaning fee lol
lol true the fees are insane sometimes, which is why I’m curious on what user retention looks like
