Since Gemini release, a lot of recruiters are contacting including public companies that state minimum TC of 1M And there are hundreds of people on that Gemini paper. Also I am sure people on huggingface or other ml firms with some paper about Gen AI will get similar messages. So it looks like 1M TC is easy to come by from startups and public companies! The world throws money at Silicon Valley, and we have so much power in our hands! Unless your TC is over 1M, let’s not even discuss about prestige or talents (including hft firms like Citadel and Hudson River Trading with the measly 700k TC) #google #meta #netflix #amazon #microsoft
Would any AI/ ML Scientist like a lowly Amazon SDE as a house servant, butler, chauffeur? It isn’t as prestigious as having a Google SDE as servant, but it’s a start.
Who offers 1m? Well for lower than l7)
Many, for L5/L6 level too 😅
How about you put your money where your mouth is and name a couple
Unless your TC is over 2M, don’t post.
I hate that OP is probably correct in some unironic ways. Somehow.
How much of that 1M is paper money? I'll gladly take 700TC cash only at HRT and put it into Nvidia
TC is meaningless. It’s all about NW.
how does one achieve a meaningful net worth with a meaningless tc? Pls enlighten me
By buying and selling business. A business that earn 200k tc net versus an IC that earn 200k. The business can sold for 1 million if the business can operate without the founder.
OP, are you saying Google employees are getting reached out?
I’m reporting this post for lewd content.
I make 100k in ML research lemme know where the job postings are at with 1M TC
Don’t forget me when you make it Big.
Based is $300k than the rest is paper. How many of those ‘hot’ startups will eventually get bought/ipo or even generate revenue? I am actually not optimistic for most of them, most have an LLM model that claim to be superior in some way, but in less than few weeks other better models came out and they are no longer hyping.
In the long term, are the best foundational models likely to be proprietary or open source? And why?
I don’t think open source really helps improve foundation models in the same way it does for traditional softwares. The training cost of a foundation model is in the millions dollar range, no one can really help improve it other than the creator themselves. My 2cent is that whoever has the best research team wins. So many things can be optimized from the fundamental level.
Lol
