FB job: stable, fun, remote, 900k. I plan to move to lcol or to the beach . New job: Fintech, crypto, bay area in-office, 1M ( maximum offer, cash + stock ) not paper money or shit coins. I can't disclose the new company name, too easy to identify myself. Money wise, the difference is negligible, stock fluctuation is bigger than that. New job get me into a completely new space, Fintech & crypto. Leadership says the remote policy may change in the future, but who knows. Worth the jump? Background: 14 YOE, Eng + EM
Stay. Remote work perk is too valuable
Worth half a million?
How is it half a million? I see only 100k difference pre-tax. If you account for state taxes (7% in CA) that’s 63k I’m taxes and the difference is down to 37k, that’s the CA rent money
Teach me senpai!
Fintech crypto is like PayPal Coinbase or Robinhood?
coinbase probably
coinbase has shit comp nowadays so probably Robinhood
$1m in Bay Area Is likely less than 900k in Seattle just from a tax perspective. Also, the Bay Area sucks. Unless you’re stoked on crypto, it seems like a no brainer.
Not a fan of Seattle except tax advantage. Lived there for 2 years and moved back to California.
Is 900K Seattle salary or California salary or anywhere salary?
If you love working with people, especially since you are an EM, Remote is a liability rather than an advantage.
Remote is a disadvantage for micromanaging maybe
As an EM - no issues with remote work. You don't EM over-the-shoulder
Man, those salaries..
Don’t you basically print money there brrrrrrr
Man, those years too..
Stay and hit the beach!! That's a dream
Planning to move to Orange county or San Diego. Not cheap!
Cheaper than the Bay Area
Not a question. If they give you >1.4m then jump ship.
1.4M is probably at Director level
What is director comp at fb?
What's your expected upside on the fintech equity?
Good question, I guess maybe double in a few years. Only a guess.
Not worth it then unless you're bored and want to try something new
Stay! But how’s the breakdown of your TC?
OP is just going to ignore the comment with the most likes…smh
