Classic rookie mistake thinking what performed well will continue to do so. Please read a few good books about stock markets by Peter Lynch, Warren Buffet, before you start investing.
It's okay if the rookie is making 25%+ cagr for the last 7 odd yrs. Knowing why a stock is doing well makes the difference.
I think I get your point, knowing why makes the difference I agree, but just extrapolation of past performance into future returns is what I am trying to warn OP against. The stocks may continue to perform well but that might be pure dumb luck or maybe OP can find better stocks if he has some reasoning.
This remind me of - Fooled by Randomness
Make sure you hold a basket of 12-15 stocks for diversification as no one knows which stocks will do well and which won't. Some say that the following are strong businesses and therefore likely to perform over the next decade (although there are no guarantees), in no particular order: 1. Asian Paints 2. Pidilite 3. HDFC Bank 4. HDFC Life 5. Nestle India 6. Abbott India 7. Bajaj Finance 8. TCS 9. Kotak Bank 10. Titan 11. Divis Labs 12. Dr. Lal Pathlabs 13. Alkylamines 14. Relaxo Footwear 15. Page Industries Better still, just buy the Nifty 50 index every month and take it easy. Disclaimer: I'm not a financial advisor. Please do your own research.
Why everyone missed LT ?
Not reliance. It was really due to jio. It was flat from 2008 to 17
it has the largest cap now and can still grow over next 5-8years?
I'm not much bullish on reliance
