I'm just updating blind here for a new industry trend. Everyone knows that broadcom is worse than amazon, but here is a new low. Broadcom has denied filing visa extensions for VMware employees whose visa expires in 2024. Also, this was not mentioned in the offer letter, which VMware employees accepted in October 23. Otherwise, people might have declined and accepted the severance. This will save them from the following:- 1. Visa renewal fees. 2. Without laying off, they would lay off. 3. Since work authorization would end from the employee's end, NO severance. Everyone in tech should know this. This might also be a trend going forward. have they announced this to the company officially?
yes, individuals have received emails. someone updated a screenshot in the internal channel.
This may well become a trend after PERM freeze

thanks, edited to include this.
Any ground for lawsuit for discrimination against foreign employees?
lol
That’s a dick move
Broadcom is run by shameless people period
I think people have more months of salaries and RSU compared to being laid off this way. But this is indeed a cheap move by a company with top 10 market cap in the world.
How many people are impacted
Omg.. that’s crazy.

This is capitalism, bro. H1B should be abolished.
I am not for or against abolishing. But, a particular company not filing extensions says a lot about the company.
Daaayyyuuummmm. Murica, fuck yeah!
