New to the Bay Area, about to move over in dec. Started looking and it seems there are quite a few apartment complex in Mountain View, ranging from $2k to $3k per month for 1 bedroom 1 bathroom apartments, but all have positive and negative reviews. We are a couple and will be working at google and another company in Palo Alto. Hope to find a 1br apt below $2.5k. Any recommendations? Walking/Biking distance to google would be a huge plus :) having washer/dryer not shares would be awesome too (though it seems not the case for most of the mtv rentals with our budget) Thanks!
I doubt you can find anything with in-unit w/d for < 2.5k/month
Been living here for a year, huge regret. Don’t buy their line that it’s “condo spec” and quiet — I can hear my upstairs neighbors walk. That said if you can get a top floor unit it’s fine albeit not in your price range.
Go to a dry cleaners and get the wash & fold service.
Avoid Madera Apartments. Price is smoking dope. Can hear everyone and the train never shuts up.
In 2.7-3k it's not that difficult to find a good 1B/1B in MV. Look for apartments in middle field, villa street, escuela etc.. San Antonio is also a good option.
Don't feel forced to live in mountain view. Save the money and keep your laundry by moving to a surrounding city. Cheaper rent just make sure you live next to a shuttle stop.
Thanks! I’m a bit worried about to traffic though. If I live near a google shuttle stop in Sunnyvale, would the commute be bad due to the traffic?
