@expensify how do you feel about the email your CEO sent regarding the election? Do you agree with his sentiment? Do people think that companies should just focus on providing their services and making money for investors like Coinbase committed to doing, or do you think it’s appropriate for one person in the company to use the company as a soapbox for their personal beliefs in spite of what the rest of the owners of the company might personally believe (the employees and investors). Do you think you would lose your job if you came out as republican at work?
I feel more proud on the mission focused statement we made.
Yeah jealous you have leaders with the balls to make a statement like that and commit to it. I loosely know Fred and Olaf and I can see where that type leadership comes from. Hopefully we can work more together soon.
Tech companies destroy neighborhoods and lives via gentrification (not intentionally). They have a moral obligation to give back and help the communities they’ve destroyed. I’ve pondered the stuff that went down at CB, I think I would’ve taken the offer to leave.
I haven’t seen the email. I think it’s okay for a CEO to have and share their political beliefs, but we should all be against discriminating against people for their beliefs... If they support Trump and then you know they’re a terrible person and you should keep that in mind, but they shouldn’t be fired over it.
Says we should all be against discriminating against people for their beliefs... Says If they support Trump then you know they’re a terrible person
Yes, but I don’t discriminate just because someone is terrible or dumb. By definition, half of people are dumber than average... Not singling you out, @YnFa28.
Expensify is a shitty company. That guy sends out like an email a week. This time he sent me literally 4 copies of the same email saying that if I didn't vote for Biden the world would come to an end (interesting because I'm not a citizen--seems like voter fraud?). I thought I had marked as spam previously, but maybe he is sneaky and is changing his email.
This guy is using your information that your company gave him to help you submit expenses to support his political positions and make himself feel like a hero. Today, you probably agree with the core issue: Trump is bad. But normalize this behavior, and you’ll see consumer data used for every unhinged executive’s pet political objective.
Do these rich CEOs have too much money that they don’t care about tax anymore? If Biden wins and we have 62% tax, I’m leaving the US for good
👋🏼
Disgusting work done by Expensify CEO. He should be punished. No matter what you cannot do that
Someone could make a lot money suing the company. I'm sure there's good Slack screenshots to share that would show a dangerous, unsafe, non inclusive environment for some employees. A labor lawyer could be helpful. If I was a victim of hate and bullying at work because of this, I would sue. Termination even better. Keep copies of everything.
Wow pretty surprised at the number of people that think they would lose their job. You know that’s illegal right? Where do you all work?
HR at a company I once worked at said “you can wear a maga hat, you can put trump signs at your desk, you can talk about how much you like trump, but if your team is full of immigrants and you talk about how you support his immigration policies you are opening yourself up to some problems.”
It completely depends on state laws. Most states do not protect political affiliation in the workplace. You can be fired for pretty much anything (other than being part of a protected class) in most states.
