I think it sort of makes sense the discrepancy comes from some super star L2 who got a huge bonus. I think maybe part of HRT’s philosophy is looking at who actually did high impact work and rewarding solely based on that not level
Sample size of L2 is 3 people. Also do SWEs for trading firms really get such big bonuses? I assumed the big bonuses were for traders as a percentage of their gains or something.
Yes the top firms do. New grads start at 400k tc, some up to 600k if they fresh out of phd or other top firm offers. As for traders. HRT doesn’t have any traders. They’re an algo trading firm.
Comp increases are almost entirely in the form of bonuses, so most people start off with bonuses being in the ballpark of 1/2 of salary, and can grow to multiples of salary.
We don’t have levels.
Sample size way too small for some of these shops….
Also idek if they really have levels internally. So people submitting those might just be putting whatever for the level. From my insight it’s either IC (swe, quant) or tech lead type of structure.
