Roblox layoff rumors ?
Any rumors internally on layoffs at Roblox after the recent stock crash ? Planning to accept an offer and was wondering if I am making a right decision. #roblox @Roblox

I have not heard and I am not sure I see it in the cards. Perhaps there will be something that’s technically a layoff but it won’t resemble the layoffs of early 2023, it would be more like a culling of crappy employees. In general the company is quite lean in its talent base and not having layoffs has been a point of pride so although I expect less hiring, a “real” layoff is not a top concern atm.

Layoffs are a certainty if you believe whats being reported in financial media: “Roblox (RBLX) is a gaming and content platform that is quickly running out of cash, their growth in revenue may not save them. Their Q1 2023 earnings showed them with just $828 million in cash and cash equivalents. With a net loss of $290 million, that gives them just three quarters of cash runway.”

The math here is not correct…. First cash and cash equivalents are 2B. Including long term investments it’s 3B. Pay is good. Culture is poor. Management is incompetent and insecure
Stealth layoffs are ongoing. New performance management system is brutal cutting pay across the board.
And honestly, it's about time! Under performers need to go. The high performers must be paid well while the low performers get the boot. That's where the pay cutting needs to be!
