I have recently failed at 3 coding rounds, one behavioral and a system design round at different companies. Coding rounds - 1st - Solved the 4 part problem in 45 minutes. Asked the questions at the start, stated any assumptions. Had a working code passing all the test cases at the end. 2nd - Two interviews back to back. 1st was done pretty quickly came up with the optimized solution within 45 minutes. Second went on till an hour and was able to get to the solution with a minor hint. 3rd - Ambiguous problem. Got the requirements coded the solution. Was not able to run the solution and I think interviewer was not looking for the running solution. This was leetcode hard. I used to clear these rounds with lower performance earlier. I know the market is tough right now but I am trying to think how can I get better and what things do I need to improve. What does it take these days to clear interviews.? Any tips by the interviewers are appreciated. #swe #interview #coding #jobhunt
Get some 1:1 help from an interview or career coach. I offer this but there are plenty of other great people too.
Yes, starting mock interviews from this week. Next step will be coaching. Will reach out to you, thanks.
When was the last time you were interviewing? How many have you failed so far. Failing 3 interviews is just a start.. this is a long process
Last I interviewed in 2021. Failed about 5 interviews so far. Yes, trying to keep it together and grind. Also, trying to overcome any shortcomings I have.
Someone created a team who will meet regularly to solve interview questions. DM me and I will send you the WhatsApp link
hey buddy, can I DM please? I'm in the same boat.
Ok so here you go. Many, about 95%, job openings posted are either fake, created for compliance etc. Your job in this market is to consistently interview without expectations till you have an offer letter in hand. If somehow you can weed out fake ones that saves you time.
As far as I can figure it's all out of our control. Remember, it's not just about the technical part, but the human part - i.e. whether the interviewer likes you - there's no formula to crack that other than just don't be an asshole. Just keep interviewing until something hits and try not to stress over it. Look at it as a statistical exercise/law of averages effort.
Lower the interest rates to 2% and you’ll magically pass all these interviews
I was looking for something I can improve upon. Feeling really down with all the rejections coming in. Interest is something I have no control over :(
