"People aren't fooled"
What are you all planning to do once you turn 50? Slow down to the coasting industry/company? Keep going full force? I've been struggling with what to do for the rest of my remaining years in life. I do know when I retire I want to play more golf and hopefully spend time with my grandkids (if my kids have any). I am not a big traveler. From a career perspective, I'm done with managing people so I really don't have much desire to move up the ladder.
Retirement. Planning on Retiring at 49, no one in FAANG would need to work beyond 50 unless its to keep up with the jonses
Who are the Jonses ?
Everyone that you compare with every.single.day
Retire Get in shape Pursue other hobbies Spend time with the kids Get work done on the house Sleep in Read Cook more and eat healthier Travel Spend time with aging parents …
Thanks for sharing this, I deeply resonate with your last one about spending time with aging parents🙏🏼
I’m 47 and can totally relate with you. Planning to work till I’m kicked out and then coast in smaller company somewhere. What’s your age and what’s your NW to start coasting ?
Lots to do on your own time and not reporting to a boss.
Eat more broccoli salad 🥦
You should start that before 50 man
I just wanna be healthy and have an appropriate quality of life. Wanna stress less, and actually enjoy life. Let's hope we all make it to that age
Will retire real close to 50, with $3m net worth. MCOL.
Man, i feel somewhat similar but I’m only 30.
30 is new 50 if you work in tech :)
For those 50+, how do you deal with the kids? Be selfish and take care of yourself or help them financially? Mine are graduating college soon and I want them to figure it out on their own.
Good question. I’m paying for their education and messaging that they need to figure out their life after that. They can live with us after graduating but they need to pay for themselves.
They’re on their own after graduation. I still help out with small things (pay the phone bill because we’re still on an amazing grandfathered plan from 10 years ago) and have enough saved that when they do want to buy a house I can surprise them with a good chunk to help them out but they know they need to find their own way at this point.
Increase my sushi consumption.
