"Quality-assurance testers at Activision Blizzard in Albany, New York, are working with the Communications Workers of America. The CWA previously helped testers at another part of Activision form a union after a reported round of layoffs. In January, Microsoft agreed to buy Activision for almost $69 billion." Headline: Activision rocked by 20-person layoff.
Can someone explain the benefits? People realize that a union is like a church collecting a tithe, right? How much of your TC are you willing to share to have the union guys defend your interests? You realize someone has to pay all those extra bureaucrats in the union, and it's the members of the union who have to foot the bill!
The difference is a church tithe is optional.
You answered your own question. In an organization where no one gives a flying duck about you and your interests, where you’ve been the very bottom of the food chain for years, it is worth sharing a bit of your TC to have someone be in your corner and have an actual power to impact things in your favor
The real news here is that Blizzard has a QA team.
Hmm here I thought they use prisoners to QA games. Guess I was wrong
Some blinders will say "if you accept lowball Google TC" or RTO/no remote or don't pay Blind TC tax "then you're the problem", then unequivocally say unions are only their dues. Sure, Blind is "free"...And evidently you get what you pay for 🤷🏻♀️ Btw lmk if you have a referral for blizzard heh
Unless it’s the last job you can get, don’t
Hehe come on in then
