Fellow HWE on Blind, As the title says, what is the tier list in your mind considering the overall company culture, pay/CoL, wlb, etc.? I'm referring more specifically to product/digital design types of engineering jobs in NA. My naive/limited knowledge: ---Modified with the help from comments--- Tier 1: NVIDIA / Google / Meta / Apple Tier 2: Intel-2022 / Microsoft / Amazon / TI-core / Qualcomm-core / Marvell / AMD-2022 / Broadcom Tier 3: Intel (old salary for unlucky ones) / Micron / AMD / Qualcomm-non core / Samsung / Fab equipment vendors / TSMC NA / TI-non core / ARM / Cirrus / Cadence / Synopsis Tier 4: NXP / ON Semi / Maxim / Microchip / Infenion.....so on and so forth This may be an old/boring topic for some, but for someone who is GTFOing like me, I can really use some help/wisdom here. I'm especially interested in knowing which company has training program/environment for new senior/staff-level engineers. Intel has been ok in this field based on what I heard and experienced, but some skills learned inside intel are not very transferrable, thus asking. Thank you in advance! #semiconductor #hardware #intel #amd #qualcomm #broadcom #samsung #apple #nvidia
Microsoft along side meta and nvidia ? Not sure if they pay that much. Qualcomm core definitely tier2 or even tier 1.5
Intel’s new good offers or internal raise are mainly for SW/AI/GPU related roles…the company is a freaking 110k employees and you are generalizing good pay based on a small group of numbers. Also, amd is paying pretty decent in Austin for most new hires. Not sure on samsung to be in tier-2. I don’t think they offer RSUs to their employees and their wlb sucks too
As a matter of fact, many fab/design people got a decent 10% base bump in the recent title change, like in OPC/TCAD/component research/SoC design, not to mention an additional 7% reaise for Gr7 and below last year...but I do agree with you. I got absolutely nothing from any of these changes either.
The blanket 7% was only given upto G7 in most cases if you remember
I would add AMD new comp as tier 2
Lack of desk space makes it a tier 4.
U can move Broadcom up to Tier1 as pay and WLB is many times better than Apple, but top management socks and ur in fear of layoff if not in good BU
Broadcom cannot compete with Apple pay. And job security is much higher at Apple. As someone who worked at both Apple and Broadcom.
this 💯 Plus time off and shutdown are better than “unlimited” pto in the right teams
Ever heard of marvell?
I have had Cirrus Logic beat my apple offer for Austin. Just one data point
I think only Apple ,NIVIDIA and Meta are tier 1. I feel like META is still big gamble…
Add tsmc to tier3. They are trying hard to move to tier4 though.
Could also add IBM tier 7 😂😂😂
Intel new offers would put it between tier 1 & 2. Qualcomm should be tier 3 unless you're in the core teams. AMD & Samsung should be tier 3 as well.
Actually lol'ed TC: 550
A lot of the new offers that I've been seeing form AMD are lower than the ones coming out from Intel. This is for Austin. What's your domain, YOE & location?
