Turbotax vs H&R Block vs other

Trying to figure out which tax software to purchase for my 2021 taxes. I'm not sure how complicated my tax returns are. I only had cash income for 2021, but I need to file state tax returns for 2 states, and I also had 2 jobs in 2021. The first job is only taxable to my resident state (MI). The second job (at Meta) is taxable to both NY and my resident state, but MI will credit me (up to the amount I would have owed for MI) for taxes paid to NY, so I will effectively pay $0 in MI taxes for my job at Meta. Does all this sound pretty straightforward? Which tax software might be best for my situation?

I don't buy soft. Instead I'm using live tax advisor from H&R Block for preparing and filing my taxes

What do you mean "soft"?

GlobalLogic MRhp51 Jan 18, 2022

Oh, sorry. Soft = software

Just use freetaxusa. Free federal, 12 per state

Yep. Been using them for years and I always cross check with TurboTax and the numbers come out the same. TurboTax is such a scam. They also really screw you on the tax returns because it costs so much.

I think TaxSlayer is free if you don't have Investment income.

A lot of people invest in index funds and hold so no investment income unless dividends count?
