Hi, My partner got contacted by a recruiter from TS for a FTE opportunity with Apple as a Product Safety Engineer. We’re from Canada, but this role would be in Cupertino. I’ve done some reading on here about TS, but a lot of it is outdated. I know they are one of the larger recruiting agencies for tech companies. - do they help with relocation? - do these tech companies often hire from TS so you’re a perm employee of the tech company? - once hired under TS, does TS still play the middle guy for comms or just HR/Ops? Anything we should know? Thanks What we know so far is - Ceiling is $82/hr (but it will be salaried) - He will be given benefits - Office is out of Cupertino Thanks #tech #apple #teksystems #relocation #canada
Personally I wouldn’t relocate to work as a contractor
Sorry updated my post and left a comment. Misunderstood some elements from my partner.
Do they give insurance?
They will! I updated my post and left a comment. Misunderstood my partner haha
Relocating as a contractor does not sound like a good idea

I worked @meta with the same agency. So it may vary depending on who you work with. 1. No (for me at least) 2. They often do. Several of my coworkers got converted to full time employees for these companies. However keep in mind that a layoff spree like last year would stop any chance of you converting. Assuming it’s not an economic shitshow, your manager would likely try to get you an interview loop to convert 3. I rarely interacted with TS. Just for paystubs and vacation. Almost everything else with Meta

Worked for TS. They are just like any other middle vendor. I don't think they will pay anything for relocation, etc. , esp when your wage is hourly. Tech companies do hire contractors, but in the last couple of years, Apple let go a lot of contractors, but it really depends on team and performance as contractor. (I was FTE at Apple). Most of your communications will be with TS when it comes to pay and anything related to contract. The day to day will be pretty much like working as FTE, meaning working with the team, manager, and customers. 70/hr is abysmally low for SF(Living in the bay area for 10 years now). If I were you, I wouldn't move. You need either two incomes or much higher hourly wage(assuming you pay for Healthcare, etc, since that's what usually happens in hourly contracts)

Ah okay, he should just ask them directly if they will pay for relocation. Also wanted to let you know that Cupertino is filthy expensive location so start looking at the prices now and decide if you want to move to Cupertino or bit far like east bay(relatively cheap) , Apple runs shuttle from east bay to Cupertino.
I don’t know about Tek Systems but I have experience with another staffing company. They do not help with relocation and rarely do they convert contractors to FTE (maybe 1-2 positions will open up out of 20 contractors or so, the rest will be laid off at the end of the project). $70/hr is pretty low. I was getting $80/hr and fully remote in a MCOL city in the east coast. To live in the Bay Area you’d need like $110-120 to have a similar standard of living

They’re not a recruiting agency, they’re a contractor. Usually if we want an employee we hire them ourselves. Many of our cafeteria workers in our headquarters are full time employees. It doesn’t say good things that this role is contracted out.

Sorry I made some updates in my OP. - hourly rate is $82 but it will be salaried - he will be given benefits as it’s FTE, not a contractor role - based out of their Cupertino office, not SF
Hi everyone, So my partner has moved into speaking with the hiring manager at apple, but TS requested that he provide references for them to check before that interview with the hiring manager (which is already scheduled for Monday EOD). I’ve never heard of requesting references this early. Any thoughts?
Following. I got contacted by TS as well.
Same opp?
No, it’s for data roles lol
