Hello, I have couple questions about a potential Niantic offer: Do they provide Sign-on Bonus? Do they provide Buy-back option for their RSU? Thanks TC: 🥜
What is this, Pokemon company?
Nope, your RSUs are worthless until IPO. Will probably expire before then.
Yes sign on bonus. You can sell RSUs but only during tender offers and you have to be an employee for at least 1 year and they restrict you to only being able to sell 15% of your vested RSUs at the time of the tender offer. Whatever the recruiters told you the RSUs are worth they are lying. The valuation is 🥜 now and equity here is meaningless.
Thanks for all the replies. Despite of the current situation, do Niantic folks think the company, current game(s) have a good (or at least) stable future for a potential IPO still? I am looking for both growth opportunities as well as a potential high total comp after IPO, both are equality important at this moment. Thanks again
Long time Niantics here. I would look at only the AR as industry and the potential projects. PGO still generates a stable income for the company and there are 10+ projects internally that all bets AR as the next computing platform. To some extent, that's similar to how Meta's realigning. If you like challenging & creative projects with diverse set of talents, minimum politics, you will like here. Note the games won't make this company successful. There's no next Pokemon Go, period. The company's betting on AR and the games are the stepping stone to get there. personally I've seen many ex-Meta flourishing here. Just one data point.
@OP, did you end up taking the offer? I have one too that I'm considering
Sign on bonus is 🥜 & buyback option is 🥜 too
