Saw a primary care provided as a new patient yesterday at Sutter health, Santa Clara. Have Aetna’s high deductible plan provided by Walmart. Even though the doctor is in network, my responsibility came for 350$. Is this normal. 😐 Takeaway: From what I have seen, In Sutter health, cash price and negotiated prices are same. So it’s worth going to Sutter health only if you have a fixed copay plan. It’s bonkers to have cash and insurance the same amount. #Sutter #PCP
It should be $0 for annual checkup
I know that. I am speaking regarding a regular visit. And don’t even speak about your other conditions during annual visit, then the visit will be charged as annual physical + office visit.
Did you already have your annual checkup this year? Is so, now you have to pay your deductible before insurance kicks in. This is how high deductible health plans work. If you disagree with pamf billing, call them.
Healthcare is so complicated in this country (all deliberately made) that even a phd in healthcare won’t get it. So it’s normal for everything to not be normal.
Yes it’s normal. Sutter is expensive and provides better service than most other places. Trust me, I’ve visited many doctors here
Yes, it’s normal for a HDHP. If you want lower out of pocket costs, go with the PPO next time.
Yes. Welcome to Bay Area. a simple doctor visit is billed $200- $400 to your insurance, since not many doctors have their own private practice and are affiliated to medical groups like PAMF
Seriously, I thought it would be in the range of 100$. Because my other pcp and ortho specialist both non Sutter charge around 100$ per visit.
Yeah sutter is very large network and lots of good physicians are on that network
