Just summarizing my resume so that I can get accurate suggestions (putting education because some companies have asked me for it π¬) About: US Citizen, White Female Education: * BS in EE/CS, minor pure math in a Top 10 CS school with 3.95 GPA - EE/CS Courses: Computer Architecture (basic stuff like Assembly, Von Neumann model, SIMD, RAID, OOO, Tomasulo, etc.), Operating Systems (OSTEP stuff), Signal Processing, Algorithms, Software Design, Data Science - Math Courses: Algebra, Analysis, Topology, Statistics, Probability, Linear Algebra Professional: * 2+ YoE at Facebook (senior) - Team lead of 5-6 for a ~8-10 month long project (saw through design/architecture all the way to maintenance) to build high performance services/products for a bigger platform that the wider team was creating - Used C++ and internal backend tech stack (e.g., NoSQL, Containers, etc.) * 2+ YoE at Google - Built smaller product features + APIs individually - Used C++ and internal backend tech stack (e.g., NoSQL, Containers, etc.) * ML internship at Goldman Sachs - Experimental stuff that was probably thrown out right after I left the building - Used Python, Pandas, SciPy, and internal Goldman Sachs tools Knowledge (optional read): - Designed enterprise-grade services/systems, but overall pretty mid at general system design (if you ask me about streaming systems in detail, I will struggle); reading through DDIA rn - LC rating at 2100, can do most algorithms pretty well (would get stumped if you ask me more esoteric stuff like sqrt decomp, convex hull trick, etc.) - Understand API design, low level design stuff pretty well - Understand some low-level computer topics (I can read OSTEP again in 2-3 weeks and get most of the stuff down) - Pretty mid at C++ tbh (if you ask me why std::vector<bool> is bad practice, I will struggle); know some conceptual topics like vtable, TLS, allocator but struggle with others like template metaprogramming - Pretty weak at ML/AI, I find it interesting but it just seems like people are just throwing shit at the wall and seeing what sticks half the time, especially in DL? Would love to learn more about DL, but don't know where to begin.

It really depends on what you value out of your job. Highest pay? Best mentorship? Great WLB? Awesome company mission? Make a ranked list of your priorities and that will likely be more telling.
Generally, it will be a combination of factors. I was hoping to get suggestions based on my skillsets only. In any case, I would say: 1. Smart, great people - talent density better than FAANG would be cool, but atleast at that level 2. Challenging problems - something where I have continued ownership, get to build things from scratch, and get battle scars. 3. I would hope TC is 300K+. I feel I can demand that much, if not more. 4. WLB - atmost 45-50 hours is good. I can probably put in 5 hours in the weekend.
