Hi All, Any thoughts on the title above? More detail- MS CS is OMSCS (GTech) or UIUC(MCS) vs PhD CS (possibly fast-tracked with current MS degree) in a mid-tier univ (in US) FYI- Would be exploring my employer's tuition assistance program so finance is not a factor (for now :)) Blind tax TC110 #tech #ms #phd #cs
GA tech masters is a degree mill. all the grads I've worked with from there were horrible
Why do you want to pursue another masters? Or Phd?
prestige
I have been i tech for a few years in enterprise architect role and want to see me go into a specialized area with the next career move. I am hoping this effort/experience will give me what I need to get more specialized and also be more marketable for my pivot to my next role with the industry (Maybe in AI/ML/Research)
If you want to go into research or become a professor, definitely a PhD. If you just want to go to top tier company, MS from top 10
Don’t see me looking at academia… want to be in the industry. Want to look at this as a opportunity on specialize on something (AI/ML) and utilize the experience/learnings/skills on my next career move (maybe with AI/ML/Research) I have not really done much research work in current roles .. so want to see how it feels like and am I a fit and do I like a research career path
How does a part time PhD work? Isn’t PhD just like a job? Especially, even if you do it full time you still might not meet the expectations?
