I was part of the Google layoffs back in January. Found a new job in August and got laid off from there too. I’m a cybersecurity professional with 10+ years in the field. I’ve been an engineer, program manager and people manager. Any tips and referrals would be greatly appreciated. #layoff
Job market is bad. If you can, try getting a job in government or healthcare. They are safer in this economic climate.
Was it only 3 months in the new role?
Less than that.
has the tech industry changed so much that the experienced workers are no longer needed?
Just want to say you’re not the only one. I just heard of a guy who was a part of 3 layoffs in 2023. Also google in January, then from a new company in June, then another new company now. Doesn’t seem real. He’s also a solid employee
Sad
Man thats gonna look bad on his resume too sucks
No tips but just wanted to say that I can relate. Got laid off August of 2022, and then got laid off the same month at a different company in the summer of 2023. I’m taking time off until 2024 just to enjoy life a bit. Job searching, interviewing, ramping up, building relationships with new people, getting in the groove, and then getting laid off to do it all over again is taxing on the mind.
I understand totally. It’s rough out there. Best wishes to you
How are you keeping yourself engaged
Sorry to hear that. Feel free to DM if you find any opportunities at MS . Happy to help
Hi can you put referral for Morgan Stanley
I'm in the same boat as OP. Got layed off because the entire startup shut down. Can i get a referral for MS?
Dfs is hiring, please let me know if you are interested
Deloitte is hiring.
Does anyone think maybe this is just a kind of targeting of high salary employees to smoke them out of every hole? Hire back folks at a lower rate. I feel like this cultural shift has been a kind of “union of owners and CEOs.” It really sucks, OP, I really feel for you. We need to get the power back in the hands of labor. Maybe over time companies will feel the squeeze and that whole “there are more jobs than they can fill” vibe of tech (from just 2 years ago!!!!!) will come back.
Yes, it is a way for corporations to do a power reset in every way
It’s class warfare 101. Only way to get it to stop is with regulation, and since every administration is flush with lobbyist money that will never happen.
How much was severance each time?
Not everything is money dear. Help him or GTFO
Only two weeks this time.
