Friends, I was really hoping to get in one of these companies when interviewed at Facebook, google, Amazon. I prepared really well for more than 1 month but no luck. I was laid off 2 months ago for no good reason and it was done part of mass layoff in January. I could really use your help for any suggestions and references. I am open to management and sr engineering roles. Appreciate your help.
There is a lot more out there then FANG. Keep an open mind.
You win some you lose some. It does not define you. ❤️
You may want to remove your name from post. Also I would say try giving interviews in companies first which would be 2nd preference for you. Rest leetcode and system design primer is the way to prepare. Also mock interviews help too.
You should expand the companies you apply to.
It’s hard, as soon as people hear you got layoff you become 2nd class in their mind. Your best bet is to leverage any connection you may have, no matter how small the company is, and work you way up to Fang from there. The longer you are out of job the harder it is to find one. Good luck.
Layoffs suck. But the good part is that you scanned through the tier 1. Now try the tier 2.
PM me if you are interested in ebay.
All the best. First apply to low tier than going for top tier
1 month is not enough imo. The margins of error in onsite interviews at top companies is getting smaller and smaller by the day. You need to Leetcode really hard for a good bit more than 1 month if you're starting from scratch. Also prepare for design and behavioral interviews well. Don't neglect these. Brush up on your projects, make sure you can talk about stuff like "what is the biggest hurdle you faced", conflict resolution etc.
I prepared paid leetcode, system Design and leadership. I did very well but no hire. In all of the interviews, probably ok or thumbs down from one interviewer is not good enough.
We probably should use hours not months. I spent about 1000 productive hours leetcoding and another 1000 a couple years ago which is not quite productive. Yet I still failed at some companies
