I wanted to get a second opinion on a recent offer in have received from Bloomberg Senior Software Engineer 170k base 80% of base for bonus for first year, can fluctuate after This totals to around 300k per year in terms of comp. which is about 3 times to what I have making now (not including equity from current company) I know the fintech sector pays pretty well in general, so I wanted to know if this is a competitive offer. Also if there are any Bloomberg people on here, what do people usually get for bonuses after first year? Cheers!
Just curious, what city, which part of Bloomberg (News, TV, LP, etc), and what tech stack will you be working with?
NYC, and working on terminal backend. Not sure about tech stack other than it's all gonna be c and c++...
How can they afford to pay this much?
Money from Bloomberg terminals lmao
Yeah I guess you haven't seen how much terminals cost. The original SaaS
I saw Bloomberg people on Topics lounge. But not in Tech lounge. Maybe you should ask over there.
Thanks!
It's a cuchy place. IC compensation at Bloomberg is capped at 390k though, so your growth might be limited if you don't eventually move to management position.
Can you expand? By cuchy, you mean "cushy," right? I wouldn't mind a cushy job in NYC making 300k/yr, lol
Fintech actually pays terribly. Unless you're talking about a handful of hedge funds and prop trading firms that hire 10 SWEs a year.
Congrats, Bloomberg is a well respected company
Is that bonus for 'meets expectations'? I'd be cautious about that. Ask the hiring manager and not the recruiter about that. Also, lol @ making senior with 1 year of experience.
Yes, you need to hit targets. I think senior at Bloomberg means something different, the job description said 1-2 years...
I see. I'm always weary of whatever recruiters say. Hence, ask your potential future manager. That target bonus seems high, but not unheard of
