Both are crypto non-eng roles. US: Company: Coinbase Location: Remote in HCOL area Team: Did some research and found my manager to be "one of the best ppl in cb" Offer: 200k base + 125k RSU + 30k target bonus (15% of base). (RSU may be undervalued so there could be a lot of upside) Thailand: Company: Crypto startup at $500m - $1bn valuation range; launched token already Location: Company is US-based but I'll remote from Thailand (work 50/50 in US and TH time zones so hours can be bad) Team: Manager and team seem ok; dotted reporting line to another manager who seems tough Offer: 180k base + 50k token + 30k target bonus in token (project is solid but token utility is shit + highly inflationary so price will probably drop by the time it vests) I'm also concerned about the exit opps. Does Coinbase carry a good brand name? maybe I can work in Coinbase for 2-3 years then exit as VP at a startup? I imagine the reverse will be more difficult YOE 7 #tech #coinbase #offer #evaluation #thailand #relocation #compare
$270k is already a lot in the US, $270k in thailand is like a $1 mil+ salary here.
How is this even a question?
On top of all the joy you can get in Thailand. You are also just an hour or 2 from all the neighbor countries that can you have fun too!
Its really just your base 180k in thailand because the token is useless.
👆
Nobody is asking the real question: How many ladyboys can you afford in your harem with $260k in Thailand?
All of them.
often times 50 bucks is more than enough to get you laid. if you’re willing to pay 200, you get the whole girlfriend experience and personal caddie at the golf course
I’ve lived in both Thailand and US… that amount of money is insane for Thailand. Even if the that startup goes bust, you could pocket a ton of money, and still live like a king.
What do you do for work with 7 yoe, non-tech and getting offered $350k?!
Damn those are some nice offers wtf lol, remote, good money. Happy to see remote still goijg strong
Coinbase is an 80 hour/week work culture. That being said the RSUs are undervalued at its current tanking. If you met your manager and they seem good you could have a good time there, but the culture is awful
Did some research on my manager and apparently he is "one of the best ppl in cb". I also agree with you on Coinbase's RSU. I think it has much greater upside than the start up's tokens which will probably drop in price by the time it vests given that it's highly inflationary. Price has been trending down. But then again Coinbase wlb is probably not great. Really hard decision to make :(
I've been away a couple years but if it's from Glassdoor, know that the POS chief 'people' officer astroturfs that place to hell.. I'd probably take it for the resume padding if you can handle the work culture, I made off with a couple mil then bailed when my mental health couldn't take it. Probably only 6 figure profits to be made now but it's a good name on your resume too. Best of luck
You just named it shitcoin. I guess it’s obvious? I would not join Coinbase either. Have heart it’s getting toxic there.
I edited that part. The startup is quite solid so don't think the price will ever go to 0. Cant get out of crypto now...I have pigeon holed myself into crypto industry.
What sort of toxicity? I was considering them for my next move.
