Lots of PIP fodder in there. Edit: forgot TC TC: 254 @ AWS Also, I’m probably PIP fodder.
Amazon's always been PIPing people. It's their SOP. Not sure if they'll gain anything from extra layoffs... since that implies that their pip process wasn't efficient at keeping them lean in the first place
How many of these are SWEs? These numbers are probably mostly warehouse workers, right?
Yeah, probably mostly warehouse and other “non technical” but I’m sure some of us will be in there too
This includes fulfillment centers which have expanded massively
Yeah, this isn’t a useful graph as a result.
If they lay off then people will have yo work 24 hours per day instead of 18. Not possible. Hence no layoffs
A ton of fulfillment folks will get the axe. Most of that graph are the fulfillment folks. We in corporate have PIP—built in layoffs. So, at Amazon we have a big buffer in the fulfillment folks that the Metas and Twitters and Googles don’t have.
Why need layoffs if they are actively pip many people ?
Bingo. We have to deal with this situation all the time—it’s not new to us.
Makes zero sense to layoff people in fulfillment. They are crucial to operations.
It’s not the warehouse people getting laid off, it’s the corporate positions that exist to service Ops. There are 10,000 PMs, BIs, and PMOs just for training programs, for example. 2/3 of them can go.
Virtually all fulfillment employees get laid off within a year after they're hired. Nothing new. Amazon does not like paying for benefits.
Horrible to wish layoffs upon anyone.
OP is not wishing, OP was just asking
