Reached my long time goal of benching 225 lbs 🥹 Took 5 months to get from 155 to 225 Stats: 225 bench, 315 squats, 305 deadlift (conventional), 148 lbs body weight, 5’3” M Feels so good 😊 just wanted to share #benchpress #225lbs #100kg
What did you do? I'm kinda stuck at ~150
Be consistent and add 2lbs per side every week or every two weeks. Focus on form and find a good spotter for support. Makes a big difference
Also, something that really helped me was to install pushups as a regular feature in all my warm ups before training sessions AND mobility exercises. Same goes for air squats to increase range and hip mobility (through mobility exercises) to squat more. Can't push weights well if you cannot push your body weight comfortably. This is my very personal approach and probably a good trainer might have an opinion about it. At 25 yo I was able to bench 225x12 at 165lbs body weight.
Good job! Now do it for 5x5.
Congrats. Take care of your wrists!
Go carnivore and you'll do a lot more
That’s awesome!
Good job !
Dumb que, do you add barbell weight or is it just plates? Congrats!
It includes barbell weight, so 2x45lbs (20kg for us metric nerds) on each side with a 45lbs (20kg) bar.
I’ve had a huge issue increasing bench and I FINALLY realized that my bar path was the issue. Wasn’t bringing it toward my chest in the way down… hopefully I’ll get to 2 plates soon! 🤞
I plateaued my bench for months until I took a couple months off bench entirely and only did dips, tricep push downs, and pec flys. I was hitting 35 unweighted dips and a 250lb pec fly by the end and when I got back on the bench I went from barely pushing 205 to pushing 225 for 5 reps. Eating a lot is also important. I can't bench for shit on days I don't eat enough.
How much weight did you gain?
