Joined brex a while ago and got some options. My options are worth 3M due to new 12.3B funding round. If brex goes IPO at 36B, I might get 9M in stock options in the end. 5 YOE.
Do you lose options if you leave Brex? That’s what I worry about with startups, I may not want to be patient and sit in place until their IPO
Usually you dont lose options for start ups
In my experience you have to execute them or lose them within a few months if you leave. Could be expensive.
When is a while ago? and when u joined was the 4 year package like 200k / yr, that have 15x? (To the 3M figure)? Or some other way to think about it
what is the point of this post
What's the conversion ratio for preferred -> common stock? What's the ratio of common:preferred share prices? Your options could be worth 20M (most likely) or they could be worth less than 3M depending on these factors.
You lack a bit of humility… I also love seeing my equity growth at Brex, even though joined around 7b valuation, not 3b. But… those are still paper money and not exactly clear when they’ll be exchanged with real ones yet, so I’d keep it low for now. Hope though that Brex will be 50b+ company though.
Brex to 100+b dollar company! 🚀🚀🚀 Financial markets regularly move trillions of dollars. The potentials are limitless. We just need to be the credit card for those juicy transactions. Brex at this point is pretty much the Silicon Valley start up credit card. And Silicon Valley is where future innovation and wealth will be created. Brex to the moooon!

If you truly believe Brex will succeed you should exercise options ASAP, otherwise you pay a lot more tax later
Gg on taxes
20% Long term capital gain tax on options
So I may end up with 7.2M after tax.
