KeepTruckin or Medium?
I am in the job market looking for more ML oriented jobs, about to receive offers for the Senior Software Engineer, ML role (work on Data Platform and ML initiatives?) at KeepTruckin and the Senior Software Engineer, Recommendations role (ML oriented, closely with “ML engineers” but also infrastructure and backend related) at Medium. Numbers aside, any thoughts on the two companies? Which is the best fit for someone wanting to learn how to build ML systems and be a future ML product founder? #offer #tech

Keeptruckin. Growing well post covid hiccups. Medium not bad option either but growth has been flat and the diversity of experience could help
I feel lot more positive about keeptruckin now than few months back. Very focused now and releasing lot of good products lately. I think very good chance of a solid ipo. Medium is a decent option too. I feel more opportunities to utilize your ML skills at Keeptruckin than medium given its safety products. I think management mentioned at some point they are almost cash positive and that’s a big positive to me atleast.
A cousin is having an offer. What is the current value of stock. He’s getting about 15k RSUs.
I don’t know exact number but valuations are very conservative here and close to profitability. I think culture here is more rsu etc after first and second year based on performance. I think it’s good approach to filter out rest and vest folks.
Keeptruckin! Like others have mentioned, we are doing really well post covid, great products features are being shipped and exciting projects coming up for you to apply ML. Way highest upside than medium IMO
The whole Data & ML team at KT has imploded over the last 4 months. The guy who originally hired everyone was laid off and everyone didn’t like the manager that replaced him so the three most senior people on the team have left (+2 more that were laid off). It’s under a new manager now so might be better but you have a lot of leverage in negotiations...
Yeah. I heard that too. Based on what I heard, whole group was mismanaged and regrouping of the team was necessary. I have noticed that at KT, you are given lot of freedom. I think it sort of got misused in this team. Keep us posted where you join. Lot of smart folks are still here working on important projects that delivers cash and working towards path of IPO.
You will learn a lot from KeepTruckin’s ML infrastructure if that’s something you are interested in.
Except they fired everyone who built that infrastructure....
I worked closely with some of these folks. I think they fired some people from data platform and not ML as such. I think mostly analytics. ML was not built and it’s getting built now properly.
What offer did they make? I'm in same boat and wanted estimates for low balling
