Just wondering what Americans think of Adyen if at all? I seem to get a lot of blank stares when I talk to anyone outside of Fintech and Europe about the company.
They aren't a well known name as people tend to know the usual suspects here: PayPal, stripe, square. For anyone that does business in the EU adyen is big. We used them on all of our EU sites with my previous employers (gopro, ebay)
In the areas I'm familiar with, I respect Adyen a lot. Good competitor :)
An underrated company that is doing similar business to overrated Stripe.
Seconding the other Stripe sentiment in that I also think very highly of Adyen. Solid product and known for having a high engineering bar.
Most Americans don’t know what stripe is either :) adyen mostly operates in Europe so it makes sense
I didn’t know what Adyen was until I started working at Stripe. But to be fair I didn’t know what Stripe was until shortly before then.
Actually I didn't fully understand what Adyen did until I joined either.
I’m currently interviewing at adyen for a swe role, can I DM you?
You can dm me
From what I gather, Adyen doesn’t subscribe to the hype cycle many of the SF/SV firms do, which probably plays a large part of it. Also, since you focus on larger businesses, you don’t have that possible appeal like Stripe for entrepreneurs. There are plenty of mega companies that are relatively unknown... e.g. Okta which just acquired Auth0 for 6.5B. No small fry, but most would say “who” to both companies.
Never heard of it
