I need a BS program for CS&DS. Someone I know closely studied online at University of Pheonix for 6 years got a masters degree in project management and couldn't find work as the degree wasn't credible enough apparently. Despite trying the route of law of large numbers. A bit about my current academic credentials: Associate of Science, A data analytics certificate (community college) with an emphasis on social science and a data science certificate (coursera). I am afraid of committing myself to an online program to see that the bachelors degree I obtained is irrrlevant in the eyes of hiring managers. Do you have any advice?
If it’s a “for profit” university avoid them. WGU and SNHU are credible but don’t expect them to stand out on a resume.
Berkeley has many online degrees that are reported to have the same value as in person.
Unfortunately, pedigree matters. With all else being equal: it’s not what you get, it’s where you get it.
