Hate the shitty work in my team currently at Intel for poor pay. Have 2 options - move to new role in CCG (hardware) or move to Ampere Computing (silicon Val). YOE: >4 Intel TC: 125k (MCOL): 110 base (94% compa ratio at G6) + 🥜 bonus + 🥜RSU Ampere TC (bay area): 150 + 15% bonus (2x multiplier) + 60k RSU (paper money) + 20k sign on + relocation #hardware #semiconductor
People Voting for stay with Intel-pls comment on your thoughts!
u can learn good politics in intel. The u can become a politician and run for president.
That intel base is shit. I would expect >125 based on my own. However CCG has a really good future. I would definitely move out of Intel but joining Ampere might not be best given you need to relocate as well. See if you can get offer from any other companies or use ampere leverage for ccg higher base
150 is not much in the Bay Area, but manageable if you are single
Really? What should be a good TC for a 3.5-4 YOE in Bay Area?
If you want to get paid better keep trying for meta, nvidia or apple. Moving to ampere doesn’t help much. Did you not get any special bonus at Intel?
Is that 60k RSU in dollars or number of options..Ampere is still a start up right... they should be giving options...
RSUs for a specific valuation
What's your YOE? 150 base for Ampere looks good number.
Why are you even asking? Intel is in decline, staying there is a career suicide, while Ampere is a disruptor with great outlook. It would only make sense to stay if Intel paid significantly more, which it doesn't.
I totally agree. My inclination is towards Ampere. The prospect looks much better. Only concern is the risk since they are a medium - startup and I'm on h1b
Its subjective, but IMO you'd have a higher risk at Intel. In case of recession, Intel will have to cut costs, but Ampere doesn't need to as they operate on expanding market. If anything, a recession would play in favor of Ampere as companies will get more conscious about the cost of their hardware and Ampere has an pricing advantage.
