Had a good boss at my 1st company and got promoted to senior. Immediately got a preipo company senior offer, so paper money give or take 580k, a company that will likely grow into its valuation in a year. My goal is lean fire, then work on side projects for creating passive income instead of working for companies, like fuck sprints, standups, tricky bugs, writing stupid CRUD code and/or pointless internal infra(did both). I want to make a leap and aim for staff in next 2-3 years in this new company I am joining to collect a lot of RSUs, but have a bit of imposter syndrome here even as senior, what should I do to position myself ready for staff? what should I be doing to make staff level impact so it's a natural choice for them to promote me in 2ish years? I know just leading projects and hope for it is not enough.
Lmk how paper turns out
will update in 2025
@holyg what a delusional cōck sukin idiot
Titles mean little in startups. And careful of paper money.
Yeah, but still preipo with billions in revenue kinda different from startups
Care to spread the word on this magical unicorn ? ;)
This industry has changed a lot in recent years. It used to be full of people passionate about technology. Now it's just people seeking most money for least years of experience to retire early.
I wanted to work on my own projects and companies, not slaving for corporations. It's different from achieving fire and play video games all day.
Even that's a big change. Ask your parents how much choice they used to have in what they were allowed to work on.
Seems you got lucky with paper money. See if you can maintain it.
This ship will sink
Hey wish me good luck instead
You seem like a nice person All the best
I remember when I had 1m+ paper money at a pre-IPO company. 2 years later, worth about 5k
fingers cross
😂
In your case, what is on your W2 is your TC. Everything else is just a wishfull thinking. I had 5m+ in pre-ipo at some point, but I was smart enough to know that it is all fake.
I guess staff means different things in different places.
