When it comes to the portion when the candidate can ask you questions, how would you answer the following question: “What do you like the least regarding working at Google?”.
Your hire no-hire decision ratio?
Can you tell when someone has absolutely no idea what they are talking about but somehow made it to an interview?
How does a candidate make it to the interview stage?
A mix of a good CV, good references and luck.
Are you influenced by how hot the candidate is
When a candidate solves the problem, do you expect them to keep thinking out loud all the time or do you allow them to solve in silence for sometime? do they lose points for not talking out loud even when they come up with the right solution?
Long silence pauses are uncomfortable. I can't say if the candidate is making progress, is stuck in the problem of just not there anymore.
Thinking out loud enables me to help them if they are stuck. Minimal talking, straight to the right answer is fine with me. As long as they can explain it once they are done.
What leetcode level questions do you ask?
Medium / hard but I really don't use leetcode questions.
Where do you get them from then?
Do you guys get a referral bonus?
I just hijacked the post given that OP is not around. I interviewed about 100 candidates over the last 4 years or so.
How did I pass
Barely.
