I started investing 2.5 years ago. I aim for long term stocks and mostly Tech sector as I understand those companies. My portfolio has now grown to 40 stocks individually with. Total value now: 43000 @ 51% increase. However I’m afraid 40 is too many and don’t have the time to check regularly about each stock, what is their news? When to buy? Whej to sell? Is this safe? Should I sell now as all these stocks look good for long term? My portfolio: Disney 2k Twlo Roku Cirrus Tesla Skyworks Apple Microsoft Fb Amd Uber Grubhub Chegg Wynn Netflix Fitbit Ely Jnj Okta SQ Baba Shop 1 share Work Pins Snap Gild Intc Lpsn Lmnd Zovio Lrn Su Levi Etsy Sphd Spce Most of them have good returns or I think will grow lot in future, so cant decide to sell. But this doesn’t look like sustainable right? I look at articles, watch videos on yt on analysis and then buy. But don’t want my portfolio to grow to 70-100 at this pace and want to try to short as people saying good buying dip coming ahead. #personalfinance #investments #stocks
Yes but before I’m buying I’m afraid should I sell any of these
It's risky to have stocks that you cannot track. 40 is too much. As per my knowledge it doesn't make any difference with the diversification anything more than 15 or 20 individual stocks. Would recommend to sell some and bring down your portfolio to less than 20 or even 15. I have too many too and trying to keep them under 10 (excluding ETFs).
Sell all. Buy back with 50% discount in 2mths
This is literally why index funds exist, to remove the inevitable complexity. I’d seriously consider selling many of these and reinvesting into MGK, QQQ, etc. You can still be aggressive with indexes, it’s not just a matter of following the SP500 anymore. There’s a lot to explore. I’ve also been putting a little cash into Titan here and there, which attempts to follow what hedge funds do. We’ll see.
MGK is interesting. I didn't know about that. Looks similar to QQQ in returns, lower expense but also more diversified with stocks from NYSE also (financials, CRM etc). Have you ever thought of more active ETFs like ARKK? It is higher expense though.
I haven’t! But I’ll look into it now.
All tech stocks 😂
Pick your favorites and trim the fat. Rebalance into some ETFs if you want more diversity
Yes what your favorite etf ? For tech stock? Communication? Biotech? Health sector?
Might as well just buy ARKK.. 🤣
You can sell the semiconductor stocks and buy SOXX or FIVG (it contains all the companies you mentioned)
Buy tech ETFs like QQQ, VGT etc
TQQQ don’t be a wimp
