I really appreciate each and every kind message but please only send me DM if you are hiring right now and can sponsor the visa within the timeline. Once again thank you so much everyone!!!!
So sorry, you are going through this. Would be helpful to try the B2 visa route as a backup and consultations, as a backup again. Just to stay afloat.
Are you not getting calls? I get a lot of emails with opportunities, DM me your email, I will refer you to all of them
Getting a lot of calls but all ended up in positions cancelled or going through final rounds just to be notified someone else was picked or got ghosted, applying non stop to over 100 jobs a day still yielding nothing so far
The thing is that they probably wouldn’t sponsor you for a GC, do you want to lose 2 years of sponsorship? You can leave the country and come back when hiring starts again and keep your remaining H1B time intact
Can you explain what this means? Do the unemployment days count only when we're in the US?
If you lose your job while on H1B, you have 60 days to find another job or leave the US. Suppose that you leave the US and you completed 4 years as H1B. You can return anytime later if you get a job with another company and do the remaining 2 years in your visa. It’s probably better to leave and return to work for a better company than to stay and work for a shitty company. If you stay working for a shitty company that doesn’t sponsor your GC and you complete your 6 years you’re done. You need to go again through lottery.
You can continue interviewing for 6 months. Convert to tourist visa to remain in the US. The new company can transfer the old H1B later.
Are you sure about this? Converting to tourist while already on US soil??
Yes talk to immigration lawyer
How did you get that company name?
If you got laid off, Blind gives you free account for 6 months to continue networking
Op target banks and financial services. This is the problem with temporary worker visas...
tried but most banks/insurance companies specifically said they do not sponsor visa
Goldman sachs? Discover? You may have to join a consulting firm or something.
If it's about not returning back to your country, I heard Canada in Ottawa is hiring, and you can usually get residency/citizenship faster. I think then you could come back to USA to work on TN visa.
TN is only for Canadian and Mexican citizens. Visa was introduced under NAFTA. So if the assumption is that you first become a citizen of Canada to then get a TN, that's a min of 3+ years of the Canadian journey. Just sharing the time context.
3+ years is still faster than in the US for some countries, so if OP is from one of the countries with a long queue then that might not be a bad deal
OP try to consider Canada in the interim. May be work 1/2years there. Pretty sure your Senior SDE Amazon will get you a good role. Then come back. You are worth way more than 60k. Please don’t sell yourself short and get stuck only cause of Visa.
If you don't land anything in the next few weeks, then resist the temptation to listen to so-called experts and switch to a student or tourist visa. It will come back to bite you during your H1-B visa application or even applying for a GC. Best thing to do would be to go back to your home country and re-enter once things stabilize.
I know of one person who transitioned to visitor visa or something and then canceled it and went back to h1. It worked in their case but have no idea on the specifics of their case.
Not a legal advise but as far as I know It's not legal to interview on B1/B2. Someone may have done it but it's still not legal.
