Couple of offers in a HCOL area (like SF,NY, etc). Trying to optimize for a few things: - WLB (have a family) - Balancing future potential (i.e brand on resume, internal growth) vs comp over the next few years Numbers look something like: Etsy Base: $200k RSU: $300k/4 Bonus: 10% TC: $295k (200 + 75 + 20) Spotify Base: $200k RSU: $200k/4 Bonus: 0% TC: $250k (200 + 50) Heard Etsy does refreshers and Spotify doesnāt. How much wiggle room do I have for negotiating with either company? If stock stays flat (though both did see significant growth in the last year), thatās almost a $200k difference over 4 years. However, Iāve heard great things about the Spotify culture. Which would you pick and why? Current TC: $215k
Those equity amounts for EM roles are crazy low. Even off brand mid-tier companies offer literally double those amounts of equity, let alone more competitive companies offering in the low 7 figures for EM roles 4-year equity grants. I cannot believe these companies offer such low pay.
OP, is your Etsy Senior Engineer I or Senior Engineer II?
Yoe? Spotify pays very poorly š

Programmers are the smartest people in the world
I donāt have a sense of which will give you better WLB (although thatās mostly team dependent) so I voted for Etsy & $$- not to mention I like the stock more
